Is this the same as a VPN subscription?

No. This is a private server that you set up and run yourself. If you want a ready-made app with many countries to choose from, see our NordVPN plans instead.

Which protocol should I use?

WireGuard is simpler and lighter on resources. OpenVPN is older, widely supported and can run over TCP when a network blocks UDP.

Who can see my traffic?

Traffic between your devices and the server is encrypted. What the server logs depends only on how you configure it.

Can my whole team use one server?

Yes. Create a separate profile for each user or device. Larger teams should pick a plan with more transfer.

How much transfer do I need?

Estimate the traffic each user sends through the VPN in a month. Browsing and email use little, while video calls and large downloads use much more.
