Managed Kubernetes

Kubernetes without running the control plane.

We operate etcd, the API server, the scheduler and the controllers. You choose worker nodes, deploy with kubectl or Helm, and let the autoscaler follow demand.

What you get

Built in, not bolted on.

Managed control plane

We run and patch etcd, kube-apiserver, the scheduler and the controller managers. You work with the cluster, not its plumbing.

Autoscaling node pools

The cluster autoscaler adds nodes when pods are waiting and removes them when demand drops. Idle pools can scale all the way to zero.

Hands-off upgrades

Turn on automatic version upgrades, pick a maintenance window, and use surge upgrades to replace nodes without losing capacity.

High-availability option

Add a high-availability control plane to critical clusters so the Kubernetes API stays reachable through failures.

Network visibility

Cilium with Hubble gives you network policy enforcement and flow-level observability at no extra cost.

Storage and load balancing

Attach block storage for persistent volumes and expose services to the internet through a managed load balancer.

Use cases

What teams run on it.

  • 01

    Microservices

Run many small services with independent deploys, rolling updates and per-service scaling.

  • 02

    AI inference APIs

Package models as containers and scale pods with traffic to serve predictions at a steady cost.

  • 03

    Variable workloads

Let node pools grow on busy weekdays and shrink at night or on weekends, so you pay for capacity only while it works.

  • 04

    CI/CD and preview environments

Create a namespace for each branch, test it in a production-like setup and tear it down after review.

How it works

Three steps to running.

  1. 01

    Size your nodes

Choose a node type and how many nodes the first pool starts with. Two or more nodes keep apps online during upgrades.

  2. 02

    Create the cluster

Pick Istanbul or Nuremberg and a Kubernetes version. We bring up the control plane and join your nodes.

  3. 03

    Deploy

Download the kubeconfig and ship workloads with kubectl, Helm or your CI pipeline.

Questions

Managed Kubernetes, answered.

Do I pay for the control plane?

No. The standard control plane is included; you pay for worker nodes and any storage or load balancers you add. A high-availability control plane is available as a paid add-on.

How many nodes should I start with?

At least two. With a single node, your apps go offline while that node is upgraded or replaced.

Can node pools scale automatically?

Yes. Enable the cluster autoscaler with a minimum and maximum size per pool. Pools can drop to zero nodes when idle, and a cluster can grow to 1,000 nodes.

How are Kubernetes upgrades handled?

Upgrade on demand, or let the cluster update automatically during a maintenance window you choose. Surge upgrades start new nodes before old ones are drained.

Can I move an existing cluster here?

Yes. If your apps are already containerized, they move over with their existing manifests and Helm charts, because the cluster runs standard Kubernetes APIs.

How does data transfer work?

Each node adds its outbound allowance to a shared pool for your account. Inbound and internal traffic is free.
